Pensiunea La Tara

Since 2016

1. The Rooms
We’ll let you settle in one of the 6 rooms, 4 of them with a king size bed and 2 with twin beds, which we can name them, following a modern trend, garden view or… garden view, since there’s green everywhere. Whether it is summer, and you enjoy the maximum 26◦ C, or winter, and the floor heating does its job, you can continue to relax, it’s just the beginning! Freshen up or warm up under the shower if you want, the bathroom is all yours and there’s no need to hurry, you have hot water whenever you want. And yes, there’s a huge mirror to use when you put on the make-up too, plus plenty of light! Of course you can test the mattress; it’s a fancy one, with individually wrapped pocket springs, whatever that means (?!), and once you see the spotless bedding, you can see yourself in your grandma’s guest room, the good one, as you know… Later on, you will have the chance to tell us if you liked the pillows and the duvets filled with goose feathers. Maybe your grandma didn’t use to have a LCD or Wi- Fi in her guest room, but it’s really not that bad having them, is it? Don’t be afraid, the beds are made of sturdy beechwood, they won’t squeak, whatever you do! Aaaaa, and if you want, you can ask for an extra folding bed for your kid, it doesn’t cost a penny! Next to the flower vase, on the small table, you’ll find a map with all sort of useful information, because even if you are in the countryside it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be spoilt like in a city hotel. We don’t want to spoil the surprise, so we’ll let you discover why you like it here once you arrive. Anyway, relax, you deserve it!
2. The Restaurant
Our pride, Our food is prepared by all the rules of the village, will remind you why the traditional Romanian kitchen is so appreciated. Tortured by all the restaurants thinking only about an increase in profits, the authentic recipes are at home in the countryside. No matter whether we talk about the vegetables from our garden or the tender mutton, all the ingredients are carefully chosen by a person who only wants the best. We always cook near you, so that you see how the mamaliga (polenta) boils on the cooking stove, how the veal roasts or the soup boils. At the end, we’ll give you the recipe if you want it; people are not secretive in the countryside. If you are curious to know how we smoked the bacon, filled the sausages by hand, baked the eggplants you see in the salad, prepared the sarmale (cabbage rolls filled with minced meat) or the fasole batuta (white beans mashed) so well, the truth is that we used seasonal ingredients and applied traditional methods. So simple, yet so tasty! If you aren’t curios at all, just enjoy them! Even though we are in the countryside, of course we use utensils and professional techniques! Whenever it’s possible though, because, what can we do, the big pans and the clay pots can’t be washed in the dishwasher. We’ve got only one thing to tell you: we’ve been picking up berries all summer long and we’ve prepared a blueberry-cherry- raspberry cocktail that will make you lick your lips! This, of course, if it ended up on your lips! And …so I don’t forget, did I mention anything about the yellow plum brandy (tuica)? Of course not, we don’t talk about it, we talk after it! Enjoy!

3. Events & Trails

Follow the rocky lane for almost 200 meters after you leave behind the National Road, go past uncle John’s wood for the winter on the left and if you are lucky, you won’t find a hen or two belonging to auntie Mary, look carefully not to come across a scared kitten and here you are…you arrived at La Tara (In the Countryside).

There are 50 meters until reaching the edge of the woods, but you are already there. You can park under the old walnut tree or you can pull the car in the yard, there’s plenty of space.

From this moment on, you can relax. This place, where you arrived at for the first time, is exactly the way you saw online, it’s modern, new, clean, surrounded by greenery and tidiness like in the countryside. The Guesthouse

Welcome! We were waiting for you, leave your luggage and better yet, come to enjoy a plate of food since you just arrived. Did I mention anything about a sip of tuica (Romanian brandy)?

If it’s not your first time here, you know what you have to do: leave the kids to chase the two cats, Viorel and Firicel, and Suzie, the dog, is also happy to have guests!

No matter how, don’t forget to close the gate, our neighbour’s three cats have the old habit of going into our vegetable garden and do damage.

Don’t rush going into the room, you aren’t at a hotel, take a deep breath of fresh air, enjoy the silence and chat a little bit with us, we like hearing new stories. Oh, yes, don’t worry, there’s Wi-Fi in the yard too, you can call home to let them know you arrived safe and sound and you can even send them a photo or two since the internet connection is free.

Welcome to La Tara!
